Men's Swimming: Denison wins Kenyon Invitational

The Denison men's swimmers placed first at the Kenyon Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Gambier, Ohio. The Big Red totaled 302 points and logged a number of provisional qualifying performances for next month's NCAA Division III Championships in Minneapolis, Minn.
The Big Red got victories from Callen Hetterich (Denver, Colo./Regis Jesuit) and Andy Brabson (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) in the 200 free and 400 IM, respectively. Hetterich touched in 1:41.16 and Mike Barczak (Beverly Hills, Mich./Brother Rice) followed in second place in 1:41.41. Both times were solid "B" cut swims. In the 400 IM Brabson touched in 4:07.22. He also returned with a "B" cut swim in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:07.62.
In the 100 backstroke Charlie Grodecki (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) placed second with a provisional time of 51.53. Jon Behnke (Orinda, Calif./Miramonte) placed fourth in 51.62 seconds. Brandon Hullings (Ewing, N.J./Pennington School) took second in the 200 fly in 1:52.27 and Casey Browning (Grosse Point, Mich./South) took third with a time of 1:52.87.
In the time trial events that followed the regular meet, DU posted five "B" cuts highlighed by Behnke's time of 20.99 in the 50 freestyle.
