Men's Swimming & Diving: Wittenberg falls to Big Red in Friday night dual

A number of newcomers logged individual victories as Denison streaked past Wittenberg 182-107 on Friday night in Granville.

First-year swimmers Dan Thurston, Austin Vierra, Chris Bagley, MJ Barczak and Robert Barry all turned in winning performances for the Big Red.  Thurston won the 200 free in 1:44.00 and Vierra covered the 1,000 free in 9:56.92. In the 100 fly Bagley edged Barry with a time of 51.60 seconds and Barczak captured a win in the 50 free with a time of 21.68 seconds.  Barry's victory came in the 100 back in 52.66.

Other winners for DU came from Charlie Grodecki in the 50 backstroke, John Nemeth in the 50 breaststroke and 100 breaststroke and John Geissinger in the 100 free.

Diving victories went to Russ Bornschein in the one meter dive and Philip Meyer in the three meter competition.
