Men's Swimming & Diving: Denison remains unbeaten with win over Wittenberg

Charlie Grodecki won the 200 backstroke and was a part of the winning 200 medley relay team in Denison's victory over Wittenberg.

The top-ranked men's swimming and diving squad remained unbeaten in dual meets this season following Saturday's 145-75 rout of Wittenberg University in Springfield.

DU posted 10 first-place finishes and were led by junior David Curtis (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) who won the 500 freestyle and the 50 free in 22.61 seconds.  Junior John Geissinger (Darien, Conn./The Lawrenceville School) won the 200 freestyle in 1:47.83 and was a part of the winning 200 medley relay team with Lowell Byers (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley), John Nemeth (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) and Charlie Grodecki (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier).

Freshman Ben Terry (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Twp.) was the winner in the 1650 freestyle after touching in 16:57.93.

The one-meter dive went to Stephen Julka (Madison, Wis./Madison Memorial) and his score of 231.95.  His teammate, Russ Bornschein (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) was second with a score of 212.60.

Junior Chris Sellon (Lawrence, Kan./Free State) took the 200 IM and Charlie Baldwin (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) logged a time of 2:05.99 to win the 200 fly.

Rounding out the winners for Denison was Jon Behnke (Orinda, Calif./Miramonte) in the 100 free (49.21) and Grodecki in the 200 backstroke (2:02.36).
