Denison won all three doubles matches against Division I, Youngstown State but the Penguins rallied to win four of the six singles matches resulting in a 4-3 loss for the Big Red.

Playing under Division I rules which results in just one point being awarded to the winner of the doubles competition didn't favor the home team on Saturday.  Denison's Jordan Buehler (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) and James Davis (Toledo, Ohio/St. John's Jesuit) won 8-5 and the team of Nate Hobrath (Strongsville, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) and Tyler Cempre (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) pulled out an 8-4 win.  In the third flight of doubles Adam Seeley (West Hartford, Conn./William H. Hall) and Jared Connolly (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park River Forest) rolled to a 8-1 victory.

In singles play, YSU came away with victories in the first three flights thanks to three-set victories over Davis and Hobrath in the second and third flights.  In the fourth flight Cempre downed Steve D'Angelo 6-3, 6-0 and in the final singles match, Denison's Matt McErlean (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) defeated Christopher Leson 6-2, 7-5.

Denison (1-2) will return to action on March 17 against Rhodes College in Hilton Head, S.C.
