Men's Tennis: Big Red shuts out Scots

The 23rd-ranked Denison men's tennis team improved to 13-4 on the season after a 9-0 victory over the College of Wooster on Wednesday afternoon in the Mitchell Recreation Center.

Seniors Jordan Beuhler (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) and James Davis (Toledo, Ohio/St. John's Jesuit) led the way for DU with straight set wins at first and second singles. Beuhler defeated Pat Grab 6-3, 6-4 while Davis knocked off Jeremy Dominik 6-2, 6-1. The tandem also gutted out an 8-6 victory over Grab and Ethan Arenstein at the first doubles flight. Nate Hobrath (Strongsville, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit), Tyler Cempre (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington), Evan Verbofsky (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel Area), Matt McErlean (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) all notched straight-set victories for the Big Red.

Hobrath and Cempre teamed up for an 8-2 win at second doubles and Tim Martin (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park & River Forest) and McErlean were victorious at the third flight.

Denison closes out their conference season against Wabash College on Thursday at 4 p.m.
