Men's Tennis Falls to #12 Kalamazoo in Semfinals of GLCA

GREENCASTLE, Ind.-- After a 4-3 victory over Hope College in the quarterfinals the Big Red were knocked out of title contention by the nation's 12th ranked team, Kalamazoo on Friday evening. Against Hope, Denison won four of the six singles matches to seal the victory. In the first flight, Ethan Branum (Crowborough, England/New Hope) defeated Jason Wagenmaker 6-3, 6-3. Taking the last three flights versus Hope were Eric Messick (Ashville, Ohio/Teays Valley) defeating Robert Dody 6-0, 6-1. Nick Pellegrin (Newark, Ohio/Newark) defeated Dustin Ruch 6-1, 6-4 and Charlie Poe took down Brandon King 6-3, 6-3. In the semifinals versus Kalamazoo, Denison fell 7-0. THe Hornets boasted four regionally ranked singles players and the nation's top doubles team in Michael Malvitz and Julian Seelan. Denison will face Kenyon College on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the third place match.
