Since 2002, the Denison University
Athletic Department has been committed to improving the overall performance
enhancement and injury prevention of our student-athletes by upgrading our strength
& conditioning facilities on a yearly basis. We have acquired new flooring and equipment
including power racks, platforms, specialty bars, benches and various
other assorted strength training equipment.

We utilize bands and chains for accommodating resistance with our dynamic effort and max effort movements. Bands and Chains attached to the barbell forces the athlete to engage in Compensatory Acceleration Training which requires the athlete to move the bar with maximum velocity throughout the entire range of motion. The barbell weighs the most during he repetition's strength curve where the athlete is at his/her strongest.

An abundance of sleds, tires, kegs, kettlebells, medicine balls, stability balls, sledgehammers, foam roller and captains-of-crush grippers are just a few examples of training tools implemented in our programming.

Conjugated periodization allows us to rotate many different barbell exercises for upper and lower body movements. Some of the specialty bars we use include 10" steel strongman log, ironmind buffalo bars, multi-grip bars, 2" axles, safety squat bars and hex bars.
