Denison defeated Pomona-Pitzer, 5-2 on Thursday morning to capture third place at the 2008 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship. This is the highest finish for a Denison women's tennis team in school history.

The Denison Big Red's quest for their first women's tennis national championship came to an end on Wednesday following a 5-1 loss to defending national champion, Washington & Lee, in the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Thomas, Minn.

Men's Lacrosse: Thirteen Named to All-NCAC Squad; Baruch is POY
After posting a 14-3 record and capturing the program's 10th North Coast Athletic Conference Championship the Denison men's lacrosse team landed 13 players on the NCAC all-conference squads, highlighted by senior goalie Alex Baruch (Richmond, Va./St. Christopher's) who was selected as the conference's Player of the Year.

Denison finishes second in NCAC All-Sports race
A highly successful spring sports season which featured seven, top-three finishes in the North Coast Athletic Conference standings led Denison to their second straight, second-place finish in the conference's annual All-Sports Championship standings. Denison, who won an unprecedented nine-consecutive All-Sports Championships between 1998-2006, has not finished lower than second place in the overall standings since 1997.

Softball: Five named to All-NCAC squad
After winning their fourth North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament Championship and advancing to their first NCAA Division III Regional Championship in school history, Denison placed five players on the NCAC's all-conference list as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Women's Tennis: Big Red advance to first NCAA Final Four
The Denison women's tennis team advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Division III women's tennis championship on Tuesday after rallying for a 5-2 victory over Emory at the Brown Tennis Complex in St. Peter, Minn. This is the first NCAA Final Four appearance in school history for the Big Red women's tennis team.

Baseball: Two named to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District squads
Senior pitcher James Clear and junior second baseman Justin Held were named to the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District first team as selected by The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). As first-team selections both individuals will move on to the Academic All-America ballot.

Softball: Muskingum takes two from Big Red to capture NCAA Regional Championship
Muskingum College defeated Denison 3-2 in the second NCAA Regional Championship game of the day from Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J. The win sends the Muskies to their eighth NCAA Division III World Series while the Big Red's season comes to a close with a 28-12 record.

Softball: Denison advances to NCAA Regional Championship game
The Denison Big Red improved to 3-0 and advanced to the NCAA Division III Regional Championship game on Saturday after a pair of victories over the No. 2 seeded Mount Union Purple Raiders and top-seeded Muskingum. In the opener DU blanked Mount Union 5-0 and rallied for a 3-2 win over the Muskies in the nightcap.

Men's Lacrosse: Overtime goal sends Gettysburg past Denison in NCAA second round
With 1:59 left to play in the game's first overtime, Gettysburg's Ben Sufrin ended the Denison Big Red's magical 2008 season with his unassisted, game-winning goal, lifting the Bullets to a come from behind, 8-7 victory over Denison in the second round of the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship.

Baseball: Ohio Wesleyan captures NCAC baseball crown
Ohio Wesleyan senior Joey McDaniel scattered 10 hits over eight innings and allowed only two Denison runs to cross the plate as he led his Bishops to a 7-3 victory over the Big Red in the deciding game of the 2008 North Coast Athletic Conference Championship Series.

JD Wyborny turned a masterful complete game victory in game two of the North Coast Athletic Conference championship series, forcing a decisive game three at 6 p.m. from Big Red Field in Granville. Ohio Wesleyan took the opener, 5-2 and Denison bounced back in the second game for a 4-2 victory.

The Denison senior men's tennis doubles team of Randy Lofgren and Kevin Newman has earned their third consecutive bid to compete in the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Doubles Championship on May 16-18 at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine.

NCAC's baseball opener washed out, games rescheduled for Friday
Thursday's opening game of the 2008 NCAC Baseball Championship has been postponed due to rain. Play will resume on Friday morning with game one scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Game two will follow approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. A potential game three will start two hours after game two.
