Women's Basketball: Kaiser named NCAC Player of the Week

Denison women's basketball sophomore wing Shaina Kaiser (Ostrander, Ohio/Buckeye Valley) was named North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week after aiding the Big Red to three victories last week and the program's second NCAC regular season title.

Kaiser shot an impressive 61 percent from the floor (17-of-28) including 6-of-10 (60 percent) from long range. The sophomore more was also perfect from the foul line connecting on all six of her attempts. Averaging 23.3 minutes per outing, the Ostrander, Ohio native dropped 15.3 points per contest, including a 30-point outburst in a 76-71 victory over Ohio Wesleyan. The 30-point performance was the second of the season for Kaiser. She scored a career-high 32 points against The College of Wooster on Jan. 2. In addition to her offensive display, Kaiser pulled down 5.7 rebounds per game, dished off 10 assists and recorded four steals.

Kaiser leads the conference in field goal percentage, converting 52.1 percent from the field (113-for-217). She is also second in the league in shooting from behind the arc, connecting on 28-of-61 (45.9 percent). Her 14.2 ppg and 28 three-pointers lead the Big Red and rank seventh and sixth, respectively, in the NCAC.

DU (15-6) puts their 12-game winning streak and perfect 13-0 league record on the line when they host Kenyon College Wednesday evening in Granville. Tip-off at Livingston Gymnasium is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on the internet by the Denison Radio Network powered by TEAMLINE.
