Caitlin Graessle scored a season-high 16 points helping Denison clinch their second NCAC regular season championship.

The Denison Big Red clinched their second regular season North Coast Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday night following a 82-47 victory over Oberlin College on Senior Night from Livingston Gymnasium.

The victory runs Denison's winning streak to 12-games and improves their record to 13-0 in conference play.  With just three games remaining in the regular season and the Big Red's current four-game lead in the NCAC standings, Senior Night became even more memorable for a Denison senior class that has won 74 percent of their games since the 2005-06 season.

Denison held a 19-point lead at halftime and pushed their lead to as much as 37-points late in the second half.  Fifteen players received at least five minutes of playing time and senior guard Cailtin Graessle (Galloway, Ohio/Bishop Ready) led the way with a season-high 16 points in just 16 minutes off the bench.  Graessle was 6-of-8 from the field and turned in back-to-back steals off Oberlin in-bounds attempts that helped DU outscore Oberlin 14-4 in transition.

Following Graessle in the scoring department was Carolyn Simpson (Dublin, Ohio/Scioto) who netted 13 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots in 24 minutes.  Early in the first half Simpson passed Christi Clay for second-place on the all-time rebounding list at Denison. She has 742 career rebounds at DU.

Another senior moving up the ladder with each and every game is Ellen O'Brien (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman).  Last night she became Denison's all-time assist leader.  Tonight, thanks to her five point, five assist night she moved into fourth place on the North Coast Athletic Conference's career assist list.

Senior Sarah Perrine (Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee) ended the night with nine points and five assists and sophomore Shaina Kaiser (Ostrander, Ohio/Buckeye Valley) dropped in 10 points on the heels of her 30-point explosion last night against Ohio Wesleyan.  In addition, Amber Clites (Oakmont, Pa./River View) scored four points and added three rebounds and two blocks in her first career start.  Katie St. Clair (Granger, Ind./St. Joseph's) rounded out the senior highlights with five points, six rebounds and two assists.

Denison shot 38 percent from the field (30-for-79) and were 9-of-24 from 3-point range.  Oberlin connected on 30 percent of their field goal tries but were just 2-of-12 from long range.

Denison dominated the boards, coming just one rebound shy of tying the program's single-game record of 62 rebounds set on Jan. 5, 1991.  They finished with 29 offensive and 32 defensive boards which outnumbered their opponents by 26.  They also forced Oberlin into 19 turnovers, turning those miscues into 28 points.

The Yeowomen (5-16, 3-9 NCAC) were led by Alyssa Clark's 17 points and nine rebounds.  Fran Holman added six points, five rebounds and four blocked shots for Oberlin

Denison will put their winning streak on the line against this Wednesday (Feb. 11) when they host Kenyon College at 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on the internet by the Denison Radio Network powered by Teamline
