After all of the dust settled upon the 2008-09 women's basketball season, Denison senior point guard Ellen O'Brien (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) now has one more award to add to her already impressive resume.

As announced by the NCAA through their final statistical release, O'Brien led the nation in assist/turnover ratio with a +4.37 differential, meaning that O'Brien committed just one turnover for every 4.37 assists this season.

In 26 starts this year she dished out 118 assists and committed a career-low 27 turnovers while spending nearly all 727 of her on-court minutes as the team's primary ball handler. O'Brien became Denison's all-time leader in assists on Feb. 6, 2009 against Ohio Wesleyan.  She leaves DU with 461 career assists which is 28 more than former record-holder and 1996 graduate Bridget Colleran.

O'Brien ranks third in NCAC history in career assists and her 152 assists in 2007-08 was the fifth-highest total in the 25-year history of the conference.  In this season's conference standings O'Brien ran away with the assist/turnover title after finishing second in the category in 2007-08.  Her +4.37 ratio landed her in first while second-place in the NCAC went to Hiram's Kelsey Durichko who ended the year with a +1.47 ratio.

O'Brien played in 113 games in her four-year career and started 85 of those contests.  She scored 792 career points, posted 181 career steals which is fourth all-time at Denison and was a part of 84 victories, two NCAC regular season titles and three NCAC Tournament Championships.
