Women's Basketball: Big Red Picks Up Sixth Conference Win
Carolyn Simpson set a new career-high with 14 rebounds versus Allegheny.

In a rematch of last season's North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament championship game, the Denison defense took a bite of Allegheny, holding the Gators to just five second half field goals en route to the 60-50 victory at the David Wise Center.
DU led by four points at the half and came out some renewed defensive intesity in the second stanza as the Gators manged to go just 5-for-30 over the final 20 minutes of play.
Denison was led by Carolyn Simpson (Dublin, Ohio/Scioto) who notched her second straight double-double and her fourth of the season, scoring 18 points while pulling down a career-high 14 rebounds.
Simpson was helped out by freshman Haley Dahlgard (Walnut Creek, Calif./Northgate) who also scored 18 points while going 7-for-10 from the field. Dahlgard made her pressence felt from the outside, nailing 4-of-5, 3-pointers.
The Big Red won the battle of the boards 41-35 and shot 47 percent for the game. Allehgeny was led in scoring by Stephanie Wolf's 14 points. Laura Magnelli finished with 13 points and eight rebounds.
Denison will travel to Springfield, Ohio on Wednesday (Jan. 30) for a rematch with Wittenberg. The Tigers handed the Big Red one of their two conferences losses back on Dec. 8.
