Women's Cross Country: Big Red finishes fifth at Wilmington Fall Classic

Sophomore Katie Navarre's (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington) second victory of the season helped the Denison women's cross country team take fifth place at the Wilmington Fall Classic on Friday afternoon.

Navarre finished the 5K race in a time of 18:23.14, over 21 seconds faster then runner up Sarah Campanelli of Wheeling Jesuit. The victory upped the sophomore's streak of consecutive top five finishes to five.

Trailing Navarre for the Big Red was sophomore Kirby Mosenthal (Briafcliff, N.Y./Irvington) who finished 20th with a time of 19:58.95. Freshman Victoria Pottieger (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) logged a time of 20:16.92 to finish 26th while senior Kat Lenhart (Rocky River, Ohio/Magnificat) placed 38th with a mark of 20:42.13. Rounding out the DU scoring was junior Kelly McCallin (Canton, Ohio/St. Thomas Aquinas) who finished 53rd in the 210-person field with a time of 21:11.55.

Denison will be back in action on Nov. 1 when they take part in the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Oberlin College.
