The Denison women's cross country team placed 14th out of 28 teams at the Gettysburg College Invitational in Gettysburg, Pa.  Denison was led by senior Kelsey Pence (Columbus, Ind./Columbus North) and sophomore Ani Mutafova (Canton, Ohio/Jackson) who placed 56th and 57th, respectively out of a field of 289 runners.  Pence covered the 6K course in 26:04.57 and Mutafova was right behind at 26:07.64.

Following that Denison duo was a trio of Big Red runners who all finished in the top-100. Freshman Julie Cantelon (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) placed 83rd overall with a time of 26:41.36.  Her classmate Anne Mcginty (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) was 89th in 26:50.86 and junior Ashley Putnam (North East, Pa./North East) took 91st with a time of 26:54.65.

The Big Red's final team score took a major blow due to a disqualification to the top three finishers in the race.  Denison boasted the second-fastest indiviudal time before the penalty was assessed.

DU will return to action on Oct. 31 at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championship in Delaware, Ohio.
