The Denison women's cross country team closed out their 2007 season on Saturday with a ninth place finish at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional hosted by Calvin College.
Denison finished with 256 points to place ninth out of 31 teams at the meet. Freshman runner Brooke Boening (Harpers Ferry, W.Va./Jefferson) led the way with a 16th place overall finish with a time of 22:14.55. Sophomore Kelsey Pence (Columbus, Ind./North) followed in 48th place as she covered the 5K course in 23:25.70. Third and fourth place, respectively was held down by Kirby Mosenthal (Briarcliff, N.Y./Irvington) and Brittany Cerankosky (Kirtland, Ohio/Kirtland). Mosenthal and Cerankosky placed 61st and 62nd overall with times of 23:41.
Fifth through seventh place for DU was made up of Ashley Putnam (North East, Pa./North East), Katie Navarre (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington) and Kelly McCallin (Canton, Ohio/St.Thomas Aquinas). First place went to Case Western Reserve's Esther Erb who finished with a time of 21:13.15. Calvin won the team championship with 46 points. Case placed second with 73 points.
