Women's Cross Country: Boening Helps Denison to 3rd Place Finish at GLCA's

Denison freshman Brooke Boening (Harpers Ferry, W.Va./Jefferson) made it two-for-two in collegiate meets as she took first place at the 2007 Great Lakes Colleges Association Championship on Saturday morning in Gambier.
Boening, who is coming off her first career victory at last weekend's Denison Fall Classic, logged a time of 19:17 at the Kenyon College course, outdistancing her nearest opponent by just over five seconds. Boening was followed by Denison senior Brittany Cerankosky (Kirtland, Ohio/Kirtland) who finished in 19:54. Sophomore Kelsey Pence (Columbus, Ind./North) took 21st place in 20:16 and freshman Ashley Putnam (North East, Pa./North East) placed 27th for the Big Red. Eight seconds behind Putnam was classmate Kirby Mosenthal (Briarciff, N.Y./Irvington) who crossed in 20:46 which was good for 31st place out of a field of 133 runners.
DU will be back in action next Saturday, Sept. 15 at the Cedarville Invitational.
