Women's Cross Country: Boening Named NCAC Runner of the Week

Boening has placed first in both races in 2007.

Denison University freshman Brooke Boening (Harpers Ferry, W.Va./Jefferson) was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week after finishing first out of 133 runners at the 2007 Great Lakes Colleges Association (GLCA) Championship in Gambier, Ohio.

Boening, who has won her first two collegiate meets, logged a time of 19:17.1 to finish in front of Oberlin's Joanna Johnson who placed second with a time of 19:22.7.  Boening won the season opening Denison Fall Classic by posting a time of 15:15 at the Bryn Du Mansion course.

As a team Denison finished in a tie for third place with 89 points.  Oberlin won the eight-team meet with 40 points.  Ohio Wesleyan was second with 50 points and DU and Kenyon followed in third.  The Big Red will compete at the Cedarville Invitational this Saturday, Sept. 15.
