Women's Cross Country: DU Places 5th at NCAC Championships

The DU women's cross country team totaled 81 points and freshman Brooke Boening (Harpers Ferry, W.Va./Jefferson) and sophomore Kelsey Pence (Columbus, Ind./North) each logged top-10 finishes as the Big Red placed fifth at the 2007 North Coast Athletic Conference Championship meet hosted by Kenyon College.

Boening finished the 6K race with a time of 23:01 that trailed Kenyon's Lauren Brady by two seconds and Oberlin's Joanna Johnson by 13 seconds.  The leaders of the pack in this year's race was dominated by youth as six of the top-eight finishers were first-year competitors.

Following Boening for DU was Pence who crossed the finish line in ninth place with a time of 23:29.  Senior Brittany Cerankosky (Kirtland, Ohio/Kirtland) was third for Denison and 14th overall with a time of 23:46.

Freshmen Kirby Mosenthal (Briarcliff, N.Y./Irvington), Ashley Putnam (North East, Pa./North East) and Katie Navarre (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington) made up positions four through six for Denison.  Mosenthal ran a time of 24:17 that placed her 23rd.  Putnam took 32nd out of 101 runners in 24:53 and Navarre, followed by Kelly McCallin (Canton, Ohio/St. Thomas Aquinas) were 41st and 43rd, respectively.
