Women's Cross Country: DU Takes 4th at Cedarville Invitational

The Denison women's cross country team turned in a fourth place finish at the 17th annual Cedarville University Invitational which took place at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course on Saturday morning.
DU placed fourth out of 18 total teams and second among NCAA Division III competitors. The team champion was Division I, Miami University who finished with 24 points and six, top-10 finishes. Cedarville placed second with 52 points and Kenyon took third with 118 points. The Big Red came in right behind Kenyon with 125 points and was paced by freshman Brooke Boening's (Harpers Ferry, W.Va./Jefferson) 13th place performance. Boening covered the 5K course in 18:53.84, the best time of a Division III runner in the race.
Following Boening was sophomore Kelsey Pence (Columbus, Ind./North) who logged a time of 19:34.70 which was good for 23rd place. Senior Brittany Cerankosky (Kirtland, Ohio/Kirtland) took third and 27tth overall with a time of 19:55.76.
Placing fourth for Denison and 35th overall was Kelly McCallin (Canton, Ohio/St. Thomas Aquinas) and her time of 20:19.16. Another freshman, Katie Navarre (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington), placed 48th in 20:45.71 and junior Kathryn McDonnell (Beverly Hills, Mich./Marian) rounded out the DU top-six with a time of 21:03.98 which was good for 58th place.
In all, 177 runners took part in the race. Denison will travel to Westerville, Ohio next Saturday, Sept. 22 for the Otterbein Invitational.
