Women's Cross Country Achieves Div. III All-Academic Team Honors

Denison Women's Cross Country team was named to the 2006 Division III All-Academic Cross Country Team. The Big Red had an overall team GPA of 3.510 which ranked them in the top 30 teams in Division III. To be honored as an All-Academic Cross Country Team, teams needed a cumulative team GPA of at least 3.1. This year a total of 112 Division III women's cross country teams earned All-Academic Team honors. A total of 185 student-athletes earned Division III All-Academic Women's Cross Country individual honors including five Big Red runners. The five women to achieve this great honor were: seniors Ashley Albrecht (Gaithersburg, Md./Magruder), Elaine Binkley (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) and Christine Collins (Chargrin Falls, Ohio/Chargrin Falls) along with junior Brittany Cerankosky (Kirtland, Ohio/Kirtland) and freshman Kelsey Pence ( Columbus, Ind./Columbus North). The women had a strong year, placing fourth at the NCAC championships and closed out the season with an eighth place finish at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional. On the men's side, senior Brian Gilson (Cortland, Ohio/ John F. Kennedy) was the only runner to receive the 2006 Division III All-Academic Men's Cross Country individual honor.
