Women's Runners Fair Well at Carnegie Mellon Invitational

The Denison Big Red women's cross country team placed fifth overall and second among NCAA Division III competitors at the 2006 Carnegie Mellon Invitational held at Schenley Park. Division I, George Washington University placed first with 72 points. Second place went to St. Francis, also a Division I and third place went to D-I, Pittsburgh with 110 points. Baldwin Wallace was fourth place with 126 points and DU took fifth with 145 points. Denison senior Elaine Binkley (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) finished eighth overall to lead Denison. Her time of 19:08.79 was 54 seconds off the winning pace set by George Washington's Audrey Noonan. Placing second for the Big Red 21st overall was senior Christine Collins (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls). She finished in 19:35.57. Ashley Albrecht (Gaithersburg, Md./Magruder) crossed next for Denison in 26th place which a time of 19:43.91 and Kelsey Pence (Columbus, Ind./North) was close behind in 32nd place with a time of 19:50.84. Junior Brittany Cerankosky (Kirtland, Ohio/Kirtland) rounded out the scoring for Denison with a time of 20:31.35. This meet was the final tune up for the Big Red before the North Coast Athletic Conference championship on Oct. 28 in Richmond, Ind.
