The Denison University field hockey squad had five juniors garner All-North Coast Athletic Conference accolades in 2008. Midfielder Lauren Keny (Bexley, Ohio/Columbus School for Girls) and defender Emily Marshall (Louisville, Ky./duPont Manuel) headlined the quintet of juniors with second team all-conference honors while forward Molly McCue (Gibsonia, Pa./Aquinas Academy) landed on the second-team All-Region team for the first time.
Keny started all 18 games for the Big Red and tallied four goals and two assists. She finished the season second on the squad in both goals and points (10). Marshall started in 18 contests and recorded three defensive saves to help anchor the DU backline. Both Keny and Marshall earned NCAC recognition for the first time in their respective careers.
In addition to being named second-team All-Region, McCue earned honorable mention All-NCAC honors. The Gibsonia, Pa. native led the team in goals and points with seven and 15, respectively. A second-team all-league selection a year ago, McCue was tied for fifth in the conference in game-winning goals (3) and 10th in goals. She scored a pair of goals against Oberlin in the season opener and tallied a goal and a helper at Wittenberg University.
Rounding out the list of All-NCAC honorees for Denison were forward Kristen Schneider (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) and defender Bethany Keller (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington). Schneider notched two goals and three assists for the Big Red while also making two defensive saves. Her seven points ranked her third on the team in scoring. Keller was tied for fourth in the league with a team-high four defensive saves. Like Keny and Marshall, Schneider and Keller are making their first appearances on the All-NCAC team.
