Field Hockey: Big Red captures second NCAC victory

Molly McCue
Molly McCue's (Gibsonia, Pa./Aquinas Academy) goal four minutes into the second half would be enough offense as the Big Red would shutout Earlham College, 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon from Deeds Field-Piper Stadium.
The victory moves Denison to 2-0 on the year and a perfect 2-0 in North Coast Athletic Conference play following last week's 2-0 victory over Oberlin College.
Denison's goal was scored in the 39th minute when junior Kristen Schneider (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington) found McCue for her third goal of the season.
DU would have another big scoring opportunity midway through the second half but McCue's penalty stroke attempt was denied by Earlham goalie Katherine McDonough.
Denison outshot the Quakers 12-9 as Big Red first-year goalkeeper Kristie Hart (Blacklick, Ohio/Columbus Academy) worked the cage for her second consecutive shutout.
The Big Red will travel to Salisbury, Md. this weekend for the Sea Gull Invitational where they will face host, Salisbury, Frostburg St. and SUNY-Cortland.
