Field Hockey: Earlham edges Big Red in double OT

Earlham's Cassie Gage scored broke a scoreless tie four minutes into the second overtime period, helping the Quakers past the Big Red, 1-0 on Saturday in Richmond, Ind.

Gage's goal came off a penalty corner in the 89th minute of play.  It was the 24th shot of the game for Earlham who improve to 2-6 with the win.  Gage would lead Earlham with 10 shots while Nicole VanScyoc added six.

Up to the Gage goal in double overtime, the Big Red got terific goalkeeping from freshman Kristie Hart (Blacklick, Ohio/Columbus Academy) who recorded a season-high 17 saves.  Senior Caitlin Gilman (Birmingham, Mich./Detroit Country Day) led Denison with four shots. 

The Big Red will look to get back into the win column on Wednesday (Oct. 1) when they host Kenyon College at 4:30 p.m.
