Washington & Jefferson's Laura Peery broke a scoreless tie with just 29 seconds remaining in regulation, leading the Presidents to a heartbreaking 1-0 victory over the Big Red at Deeds Field-Piper Stadium.
The two teams were back and fourth throughout regulation and the Big Red had a host of scoring opportunities on their end of the field. DU attempted 15 penalty corners on the night but freshman goalie Roslynn Reynoso was there to slam the door each time. The Big Red took 10 shots and Reynoso posted six saves to lead the Presidents.
Leading the Big Red in the shot department was senior Caitlin Gilman (Birmingham, Mich./Detroit Country Day) and junior Molly McCue (Gibsonia, Pa./Aquinas Academy) who each took three shots. DU goalie Kristie Hart (Blacklick, Ohio/Columbus Academy) notched four saves in her 70 minutes played.
Denison will return to North Coast Athletic Conference action on Tuesday, Oct. 7 when they travel to Wittenberg for a 4:30 game with the Tigers.
