| Location: | CLEVELAND, Ohio |
Denison first-year Catie Merrick (Owings Mills, Md./Garrison Forest) was named North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week for the second time this season after scoring four goals in two wins to help the Big Red clinch the No. 4 seed in the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament.
Merrick tacked on two insurance goals in the 22nd and 40th minutes off assists from Kristen Schneider in DU's 5-0 victory over Oberlin. She followed that up with a pair of goals and an assist in Denison's 4-1 victory over Earlham. Merrick has tallied 15 goals this season which ties her with Wizzie Crocker and Cheryl Connolly for fourth on Denison's all-time single-season goals list. It is also the most goals scored by a Big Red player since 1993.
The Big Red open up the 2009 NCAC Tournament on Wednesday (Nov. 4) when they travel to top-seeded Wooster. Game time is slated for 2 p.m.
