Brockport Nips Big Red Field Hockey in Overtime

The Big Red battled SUNY-Brockport into overtime but for the second time in as many days, DU suffered a one-goal defeat as Brockport's Allyson Granish scored in the 10th minute over overtime leading them past the Big Red 2-1 on Sunday morning.

Brockport scored first when Gretchen Brehm found the back of the cage off an assist from Amy Anderson just before halftime.

Just 1:47 into the second half, Denison's Caitlin Gilman (Birmingham, Mich./Detroit Country Day) tied the contest at 1-1 with an unassisted goal from the left side of the cage.  The score would remain knotted at one goal apiece until Granish's OT goal.

Denison outshot Brockport 13-5 and took 20 penalty corners to their two.  Read Powel  (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Hathaway Brown) led Denison with four shot attempts.

Denison is 1-4 and will travel to Oberlin next Saturday, Sept. 16 to face the Yeowomen at 12 p.m.
