Molly McCue scored two goals leading DU past Earlham.
Molly McCue (Gibsonia, Pa./Aquinas
Academy) scored twice and Allison Sullivan (Wellesley, Mass./Newton Country
Day) scored her first goal of the season as the Denison Big Red field hockey
team topped Earlham College in a North Coast Athletic Conference match from
Richmond, Ind. on Saturday.
McCue got things going for Denison
in the fourth minute when Caitlin Gilman (Birmingham,
Mich./Detroit Country Day) found her off a
penalty corner, giving Denison a
1-0 lead.
Three minutes before halftime McCue gave Denison
a two goal lead after a Lauren Keny (Bexley, Ohio/Columbus School For Girls) assist. The score
would stay that way until with 8:40
left in the contest Sullivan found the back of the cage off an assist by Read
Powel (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Hathaway Brown).
Earlham's Cassie Cage would put the Quakers on the
scoreboard with 42 seconds remaining but by that time the game had been
decided.
Denison outshot
Earlham 7-5 as Halle Minshall (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker
Heights) recorded three saves in goal for DU. Earlham goalie Katherine McDonough posted two
saves in her 70 minutes of action.
The win is the second-straight for Denison
and their second consecutive NCAC win. Their record improves to 3-3 overall and 2-0 in the conference. Earlham drops to 1-3 on the season and 0-3 in
the NCAC.
