Field Hockey: OWU Tops Denison 2-1

Denison jumped out to a 1-0 lead three minutes into the match but the Bishops would chip away at the Big Red lead, scoring two goals over the next 38 minutes to top the DU field hockey team, 2-1 on Saturday at Deeds Field-Piper Stadium.
DU got on the board first when Carter Hartung (St. Louis, Mo./Whitfield School) took a Read Powel (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Hathaway Brown) pass and scored her third goal of the year.
Denison would hold their one-goal lead until the 29th minute when Lilly Jianas scored off a Tara Porter assist. Just after halftime Porter would provide the eventual game-winner off a pass from Shannon McHenry.
Denison (5-10, 4-5 NCAC) outshot OWU 14-4 and out-cornered the Bishops 12-3. Ohio Wesleyan (8-5, 5-4 NCAC) goalie Katie Jones stopped five Big Red scoring attempts. Halle Minshall (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights) posted one save for Denison.
The game was scheduled to be played in Delaware, Ohio but a gas leak at Selby Field forced the game to Granville. October 24th's contest between Ohio Wesleyan and Denison, which was originally scheduled to be played in Granville, will be played at Ohio Wesleyan.
