Field Hockey: Powel named to NFHCA All-Star Team

Senior Read Powel was selected for the 2007 NFHCA Division III All-Star. She is the first Big Red player since 2004 to participate in the game.

Senior midfielder Read Powel (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Hathaway Brown) has been selected to the 2007 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III Senior All-Star team. She is the lone representative of the North Coast Athletic Conference in the game.

In her four years at Denison, Powel scored ten goals and recorded 22 assists in leading the Big Red defense. She was named 2nd team all-NCAC following her freshman season in 2004 and 1st team for her sophomore and junior campaigns. Powel was also named 2006 NCAC defensive player of the year.

The last Denison representative in the game was in 2004 when Karen Lancaster played in the game. 

The all-star game will be played on Saturday, November 17 at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa. Game time is 9:30 a.m.
