Field Hockey: Wittenberg Rallies to Edge DU in OT
Carter Hartung scored two goals in the Big Red's loss to Wittenberg.

The Wittenberg Tigers rallied from a two-goal deficit in the final eight minutes of regulation, tying the match at 3-3 to force an overtime. Seven minutes into the first OT Wittenberg's Boo Vernon scored her second goal of the match to give Wittenberg a 3-2 victory over the Big Red at Edwards-Maurer Field in Springfield.
Vernon got Wittenberg started with a goal in the 25th minute off an assist by Tori Casanta. Denison would answer with three unanswered goals over the next 16 minutes of play. Senior Carter Hartung scored the first via a penalty stroke and five minutes later she would find the back of the cage off an assist by Read Powel.
DU's final goal would come off the stick of Caitlin Gilman thanks to an assist by Kristen Schneider. THe score would remain 3-1 in favor of the Big Red until Casanta's back-to-back goals tied the match at 3-3, setting up the overtime winner.
Denison was outshot 22-10 and out-cornered 6-4. Big Red goalie Halle Minshall recorded four saves in goal while Wittenberg keeper Liana Began posted three saves.
