Denison University senior midfielder Read Powel (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Hathaway Brown) and Carter Hartung (St. Louis, Mo./Whitfield School) headlined a list of four Big Red field hockey players who were named to the 2007 All-North Coast Athletic Conference squads.
Powel, the 2006 NCAC Defensive Player of the Year, earned her third, first-team honor of her career after leading the Big Red with eight assists. Powel also scored two goals and was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association first-team for the Great Lakes Region.
After a second-team All-NCAC award in 2005 and an honorable mention in 2006, Hartung moved up to the first-team after anchoring the Denison defense since her freshman season. She scored three goals in 2007 and was named to the second-team All-Great Lakes Region squad.
Earning second-team All-NCAC was sophomore Molly McCue (Gibsonia, Pa./Aquinas Academy). McCue led the team in goals scored with eight. Junior back Claire Kase (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) rounded out the all-conference honorees for Denison as she was named to the honorable mention squad. This marked the third all-conference honor for Kase.
