Field Hockey: Seven named to All-NCAC squad; Merrick is Newcomer of the Year
Following a season that saw Denison make its first trip to the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament since 2006, the Big Red landed seven players on All-NCAC squads. Headlining the all-conference selections were senior midfielder Molly McCue and freshman forward Catie Merrick.

Laura German scored two goals, spearheading The College of Wooster on a pivotal 4-0 run, leading the top-seeded Fighting Scots to a 4-2 win over fourth-seeded Denison in the semifinals of the 2009 North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament from John P. Papp Stadium in Wooster, Ohio

Field Hockey: Merrick named NCAC Athlete of the Week
Denison first-year Catie Merrick was named North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week for the second time this season after scoring four goals in two wins to help the Big Red clinch the No. 4 seed in the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament.

Three Denison teams gear up for NCAC Tournaments
Three Denison teams have qualified for the 2009 North Coast Athletic Conference postseason tournaments and Denison University will be the host for two of those semifinal match-up's. On Tuesday (Nov. 3) the top-seeded women's soccer team will host Earlham College at 7 p.m. at Barclay-Thomsen Field. On Wednesday (Nov. 4), the second-seeded men's soccer team will host Kenyon College at 7 p.m. at Deeds Field-Piper Stadium. Also on Wednesday, the field hockey team will travel to The College of Wooster for a 2 p.m. semifinal clash at John P. Papp Stadium.

The Denison Big Red got on the scoreboard just 18 seconds into Saturday's North Coast Athletic Conference match versus Oberlin College and kept the pressure on, resulting in a 5-0 victory for DU from Deeds Field-Piper Stadium.

Denison freshman Catie Merrick scored a career-high four goals but the College of Wooster's explosive offense came through late, with three unanswered goals, to edge the Big Red 5-4 on Wednesday afternoon.

Field Hockey: Denison Rallies for 2-1 win over Centre
Brittany Benson posted 10 saves and fellow first-year Katie Couyoumjian scored the game-winning goal in the 58th minute to lead Denison to a 2-1 lead over Centre College on Friday afternoon.

Field Hockey: Three second half goals send DU past Kenyon
After both Kenyon and Denison played the first 35 minutes to a scoreless tie, both teams' offense woke up in the second half with four goals coming in the span of 10 minutes. The result was a critical 3-1 win for Denison from Deeds Field-Piper Stadium.

Field Hockey: Late goal sends OWU past Big Red
Lilly Jianas' goal with 4:10 left in the second half was enough to send Ohio Wesleyan to a 3-2 victory over the Denison Big Red field hockey team on Saturday afternoon from Selby Field in Delaware, Ohio.

Field Hockey: Big Red falls to Tigers
Despite outshooting Wittenberg 17-14, the Big Red suffered a 3-0 loss to Wittenberg on Wednesday in a battle of the two teams who entered the day tied for second place in the North Coast Athletic Conference.

Field Hockey: Another late goal by Schneider sends Big Red to win
Kristen Schneider's goal in the 68th minute sent Denison to their seventh victory of the season and broke a 1-1 tie against Washington & Jefferson on Saturday from Deeds Field-Piper Stadium. Denison's 2-1 victory marked their fifth one-goal win of 2009.
