Capital University's Purple & White Invitational got off to a soggy start on Friday as the 80-player field battled through morning rains and high winds.  Through 18 of the 36 holes Denison sits in 14th place out of 17 teams.

Denison junior Allie DeFries (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood Flossmoor) led the Big Red for the third straight round thanks to her 96.  DeFries carded a 46 on the front nine and returned with a 50 on the back to finish 24-over on the 5,985 yard course. She enters Saturday's second round in a tie for 21st place in the overall standings.

Junior Megan Flemming (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta) sits in a tie for 44th place after shooting a 105.  Classmate Emily Stimpert (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) shot a 116 and Chelsea Lee (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) rounded out the scoring with a 126.

Bethel (Ind.) leads the tournament with a team score of 348.  Otterbein sits in second at 368 followed by Wittenberg at 371.
