Women's Golf: Results from Hiram Invitational

The Denison women's golf team finished in first place at the three-team Hiram Invitational on Sunday afternoon from Sugarbush Golf Club in Garrettsville, Ohio. The victory marked the first team championship in young history of women's golf at Denison.
Leading the way for the Big Red was senior Megan Fleming (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta) who carded a 43 on the back-nine to shoot a 92 which placed her second out of the field of 20 golfers. Following Fleming in fourth place was freshman Kara Ferguson (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hills) who shot a 101 after nine hole rounds of 48 and 53. In a tie for eighth place was senior Elayna Nowak (Avon, Ohio/Avon) who shot a 104. Her classmate, Liz Tristano (Barberton, Ohio/St. Vincent-St. Mary's) rounded out Denison's scoring with a 106.
Overall, Denison totaled 403 strokes for the round to finish five shots in front of Hiram. Ursuline College placed third with 412 strokes.
DU will be back on the course on Monday when they compete at the Muskingum Invitational at Jaycees Golf Course in Zanesville, Ohio.
