Date: April 10, 2007
Location: SPRINGFIELD, Ohio
In just their eighth tournament since becoming Denison's 23rd varsity sport, the Big Red women's golf team posted their best tournament to date with an 8th place finish at the 13-team Wittenberg Spring Invitational at Windy Knoll Golf Course. Denison posted a team total of 379 and were led by Megan Fleming (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta) and Caitlin Gilman's (Birmingham, Mich./Detroit Country Day) pair of 89's. For Fleming it marked her second-best round of the season. She carded an 84 back on Oct. 1 at the Wilmington Invitational. For Gilman, who just joined the team this spring, it was her best effort of her young career. Following Fleming and Gilman was Allie DeFries (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood Flossmoor) who fired a 44 on the front nine and a 47 on the back for a 91. Sarah Grannemann (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) rounded out the Denison scoring with a 110. The University of Findlay won the tournament with a team total of 341. Findlay's Katie Clementz was the medalist with an 82. The Big Red's next tournament will be this Saturday when they travel to Cambridge Country Club for the Muskingum Spring Invitational.
