Women's Indoor Track & Field: Denison finsh sixth at NCAC Relays; sets school record in sprint medley relay

The Denison 1600-meter spring medley relay team of Amanda Conley (Dublin, Ohio/Columbus Academy), Claire Navarro (Seal Beach, Calif./Los Alamitos), Christy Conley (Rye, N.Y./Rye) and Ashley Putnam (North East, Pa./North East) took second in the event and set a new school record with a time of 4:32.12 at the 2009 North Coast Athletic Conference Relays on Saturday in Granville. The Big Red finished the meet with 46 points while Ohio Wesleyan University captured the team title for the third consecutive year with 102 tallies.
Additionally, Navarro won the triple jump with a distance of 32-10.50 while leaping 15-07.00 to take second in the long jump. Emily Taylor (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) and Emily Handelman (Rochester, N.Y./Penfield) combined for third place in the shot put relay. Taylor was third in the event overall with a toss of 36-08.50 while Handelman finished eighth with a heave of 30-11.75.
The 4x800 relay squad took third in their event with a mark of 10:35.08 while the 4x400 grouping was fourth with a time of 4:23.39.
Denison returns to action Saturday when they host the Great Columbus Division III meet. Events are scheduled to start at 12:15 p.m.
