Women's Indoor Track & Field: Results from Capital Invitational

The Denison women's indoor track and field team made the short trip to Capital University on Friday night for the Rick Meindl Last Call meet.
Denison placed fifth out of 10 teams at the meet and totaled 62 points. Capital was the winning team with 183.50 points scored. Freshman Brooke Boening (Harpers Ferry, W.Va./Jefferson) turned in the top performance of the night for the Big Red. She won the women's 3,000 meters with a time of 10:57.18. Boening defeated teammate, Kirby Mosenthal (Birarcliff, N.Y./Briarcilff) who took second in 11:42.24.
Another freshman, Laura Wolgamott (Loudonville, Ohio/Loudonville) ran a time of 9.38 seconds in the women's 55 meter hurdles which landed her in sixth place. Sophomore Kelly McCallin (Canton, Ohio/St. Thomas Aquinas) placed second in the 1,000 meters in 3:17.29.
In the women's triple jump Shavely Peralta (Methuen, Mass./Central Catholic) placed fifth and sophomore Emily Taylor (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) took seventh in the shot put with a throw of 33'7.5". Rookie Claire Navarro (Seal beach, Calif./Los Alamitos) picked up a point for DU in the long jump with a distance of 15'11.5".
In the women's 200 meter dash senior Ozzie Crump (Chicago, Ill./Wells) placed eighth in 29.08 and junior Amanda Conley (Dublin, Ohio/Columbus Academy) finished ninth in 29.75 seconds.
Maggie Snyder (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria Catholic) and Christy Conley placed sixth and eighth, respectively in the 400 meter dash while Kat Lenhart (Rocky River, Ohio/Magnificat) and Julie Rotramel (Lexington, Ky./Lafayette) took fourth and eighth place, respectively in the 800 meters to round out Denison's top finishers.
DU will compete next week in the North Coast Athletic Conference Championship from Granville. That will begin on Friday (Feb. 29) and will continue through Saturday (March 1).
