Women's Indoor Track & Field: Denison Places Fifth at NCAC Relays

The Denison women's indoor track and field squad totaled 42.5 points to place fifth at Saturday's North Coast Athletic Conference Relays at the Mitchell Center in Granville. Ohio Wesleyan took home the women's crown with 97 team points.
Denison was led by sophomore Emily Hammeren and her second-place finish in the women's pole vault. Hammeren cleared 10' to finish behind Allegheny's Sarah Sammel who cleared 10'6". Hammeren also competed in the triple jump relay. Teammed with Shavely Peralta, the Big Red tied for third in the event.
In the women's shot put Emily Taylor and Emily Handelman combined to tie for third place after Taylor threw 32'11.75" and Handelman was right behind at 31'8".
In the running events the women's fourth place finish in the 4x200 meter relay was DU's top performance. The relay squad comprised of Ozzie Crump, Amanda Conley, Laura Wolgamott and Maggie Snyder ran a time of 1:54.52.
The 4x800 relay team of Stephanie Dallas, Heather Davidson, Julie Rotramel and Marla Kramer placed fifth with a time of 10:57.48.
In the Distance Medley Relay, Kathryn McDonnell, Snyder, Kelly McCallin and Brittany Cerankosky also checked in fifth in 13:44.47.
Another fifth place finish was recorded in the 4x400 relay by McDonnell, Christy Conley, Snyder and McCallin. A sixth place finish in the sprint medley relay by Crump, Conley, Conley and Kat Lenhart and their time of 4:44.60 rounded out the top performers for the Denison runners.
Denison will compete next weekend at the Greater Columbus Division III Meet in Westerville, Ohio.
