Women's Indoor Track & Field: Hammeren named NCAC Athlete of the Week

Denison sophomore Emily Hammeren (Olmsted Falls, Ohio/Olmsted Falls) was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week after winning the pole vault at the 2008 Greater Columbus Division III Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 9 in Westerville, Ohio.

Hammeren not only won the event by clearing 10'6", she also set a new school record in the process.  Hammeren's height topped her previous best by six inches and broke the Denison record of 10'4.25" set by Amanda Wieland in 2001.

Hammeren and the Big Red will compete Division III All-Ohio Championships this Saturday (Feb. 16) at Otterbein College.
