Women's Results From the Greater Columbus Indoor Track and Field Meet

The Denison women's indoor track and field team placed fourth out of five schools at the annual Greater Columbus meet featuring Denison, Capital, Otterbein, Kenyon and Ohio Wesleyan.
Senior Christine Collins (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) led DU with a victory in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:23.59. IN the pole vault, freshman Emily Hammeren (Olmsted Falls, Ohio/Olmsted Falls) continued to improve as she cleared 9'6" to win the event.
Other top finishers for Denison included senior Ashley Albrecht who placed fifth in the 1,000 meters in 3:16.37. Kristen Matthews (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) ran a time of 1:03.32 to place fourth in the 400 meter dash and Sarah Anderson (Poland, Ohio/Seminary) came in second in the 500 meters with a time of 1:24.42. Emily Taylor (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) and Emily Handelman (Rochester, N.Y./Penfield) led DU in the shot put with fourth and sixth place finishes, respectively. Taylor led Denison with a throw of 33'10".
Denison will compete in next week's Last Chance meet on Friday night at the Mitchell Center.
