Lindsay Howard had two goals for Denison on Thursday against Kenyon.

Denison attempted three shots on-goal in the final minute of play but Kenyon's Chase Krueter notched saves on all three attempts, slamming the door on a Big Red comeback attempt and sealing up a 9-8 victory for the Kenyon Ladies from Deeds Field-Piper Stadium on Thursday afternoon.

Denison trailied 4-2 at halftime and six minutes into the second half Big Red senior Lindsay Howard (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) stopped a three-goal Kenyon scoring streak with her eighth goal of the season off an assist by freshman Alex Thurner (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day)Sara Langsam (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Friends) would follow with back-to-back goals and Cassedy O'Neill (Seattle, Wash./Seattle Prep) would lift DU to a 6-4 lead with 14:04 to play, capping off a 4-0 Denison scoring run.

The Ladies would answer with a four-goal streak of their own over the next two minutes of play.  Two of the four goals would come off the crosse of Jackie Sherriffs who would lead Kenyon with a game-high three goals.

No leading 8-6 with just over 13 minutes to play Denison's Caroline Gully (Barrington Hills, Ill./Barrington) scored off an eight-meter attempt and Howard would go on to knot the score at 8-8 thanks to an assist from Phoebe Myhrum (Pittsburg, Pa./Shady Side) with 9:49 to play.

The score would stay tied until Kenyon's Meghan Henshall came up with the game-winning goal with 2:29 to play.  In that final hectic minute Denison's Howard had her shot turned away by Krueter with 32 seconds left.  Consecutive fouls would give Denison two straight eight-meter attempts as time ticked away. The first, taken by Thurner and the second, by Lulu Carter (Greenwich, Conn./The Millbrook School), were stymied by Krueter giving her 19 saves for the game.

Denison goalie Amada Wilson (Hudson, Ohio/Western Reserve) finished with 10 saves in 60 minutes of action.  DU outshot Kenyon 32-30 and finished with 13 draws compared to just six for the Ladies.  KC committed 21 turnovers, 11 of which were forced by Denison.  Jackie Pachuta (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) and Howard led DU with two caused turnovers apiece.

Howard and Langsam led Denison with two goals.  Myhrum, Gully, O'Neill and Feroli accouted for the remaining four goals for the Big Red.

The loss drops Denison's record to 3-3 overall and 0-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.  Kenyon improves to 7-1 and is 1-0 in the NCAC.  DU will travel to Notre Dame College on Saturday for a 1 p.m. match against the Falcons.  They will return to conference play next Saturday (April 11) against The College of Wooster at 1 p.m.
