The Scots took a 3-0 lead in the opening four minutes of play and thanks to a goal by Becca Worthington with three seconds remaining in the first half, Wooster held a 6-3 lead at halftime. In the second half Denison scored first when Lisa Feroli (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) found the back of the net off an assist from Phoebe Myhrum (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side Academy). Looking to gain some momentum and now trailing by just two goals, Wooster retaliated with another three goal streak over a five minute span lifting their lead to 9-4 with 22 minutes left.
First-year attack and current NCAC Athlete of the Week, Cassedy O'Neill (Seattle, Wash./Seattle Prep), would try and get Denison back into the game when she scored back-to-back goals at 20:19 and 18:08. O'Neill would end up leading Denison with four goals running her season total to 18.
Trailing 10-7 with just over five minutes to play, Wooster's Nina Dine scored consecutive unassisted goals and Darragh scored her third goal to lock up the win with just under three minutes left in regulation.
Wooster edged Denison in shots 34-31 but Denison took 12 draws to Wooster's 11. The Big Red were 3 for 9 in free position attempts and senior goalie Amanda Wilson (Hudson, Ohio/Western Reserve) posted 10 saves in the cage. Wooster goalie Jamie Dannenberg posted nine saves in the first half and finished with 11 saves in the game.
Denison's season comes to an end at 6-8 while Wooster advances to tomorrow's conference championship game at 2 p.m. in Wooster.
