DU Women's Lacrosse Falls to Wooster in NCAC Semifinals

The College of Wooster avenged last Saturday's regular season loss to the Denison Big Red by outscoring them 11-6 in the first half for a 19-12 win in the North Coast Athletic Conference semifinals. Denison was led by Quinn Simmons who finished with four goals. Read Powel ended with three scores and Meg Wilcox added two goals and one assist. Denison's leading scorer Krissy Frost was held scoreless in nine shot attempts. Nine different Fighting Scot players scored goals, led by Taryn Higgins' four-goal effort. Carolyn Hicks capped off her four-year career between the pipes for Denison with seven saves. Wooster's Jamie Dannenberg finished with 13 stops. The two teams tied with 41 shots apiece and Wooster took 18 of 33 draw controls. The Big Red's season comes to a close with a 7-8 overall record and a tie for third place in the NCAC. Wooster advances to Saturday's title game and will take on top-seed, Ohio Wesleyan, at 3 p.m.
