The Battling Bishops scored two goals in the final four minutes of the second half to pull of a 11-9 victory over the Denison Big Red women's lacrosse team. Both teams had to deal with blustery conditions featuring high winds, snow flurries which were heavy at times and sub-30 degree temperatures. With 4:09 left in the second half, OWU's Julia Fouts broke a 9-9 tie when she scored off a free position attempt for the eventual game-winner. Twenty-four seconds later Alexa Deaton scored off a feed from Paula Breen, giving the Bishops a two-goal lead. The game was a see saw battle from the onset. Denison got on the board first when Meg Wilcox (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) scored four minutes into the first half. OWU would net the next three goals, followed by a two-goal Denison spurt to tie the game at 3-3. With 11:01 left in the first half the Bishops went on another three-goal run to take a 6-3 lead with just under five minutes left in the half. Denison answered with a four-goal outburst, three of those coming off the stick of Krissy Frost (Wilton, Conn./Wilton), to give Denison their second lead of the day at 7-6. It would be more back-and-forth scoring until OWU notched the game winners late in the second half. Frost was the offensive star of the game as she netted five goals. Wilcox added three goals off seven shots and Read Powel (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Hathaway Brown) chipped in one goal and one assist. Anna Brandt (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) and Haley Stineman (Darien, Conn./Darien) also contributed assists for the Big Red. Fouts and Deaton both scored three goals for Ohio Wesleyan who improves to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference with the win. Bishop goalie Maggie Eichenlaub posted 11 saves and DU goalie Carolyn Hicks finished with 15 saves. Denison (3-6, 1-1 NCAC) outshot OWU 32-26 and took 10 of 18 draw controls. Denison will travel to Oberlin on Wednesday, April 11 for a 4:30 p.m. match against the Yeowomen. PICTURED: Krissy Frost scored a game-high five goals against OWU.
