Women's Lacrosse: Claremont defeats Big Red to close out west coast swing

Claremont-McKenna took a 4-0 lead early in the first half and held off a Big Red comeback attempt to stop DU 9-6 on Wednesday in Claremont, Calif.
Trailing 4-0 Denison's Meg Wilcox (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) got her team on the score board with a free position goal with 12:04 left in the first half. In the second half DU trailed by two until another Wilcox goal off an assist by Jenny Strathern (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) got the Big Red to within one at 7-6. Claremont would go on to score the final two goals of the game to prevent the Big Red comeback.
Wilcox led Denison with three goals. Sara Langsam (Philadelphia, Pa./Friends) scored two goals while Quinn Simmons (Medina, Ohio/Medina) and Anna Brandt (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) both scored one goal each.
Denison will return to Ohio and will host Notre Dame College next Tuesday (March 18) at 4:30 p.m.
