Women's Lacrosse: DU edges Pomona for first win

The DU women's lacrosse team began their spring break trip with a 10-9 victory over Pomona College on Monday in Pomona, Calif.

Denison led 6-4 at the half but Pomona stormed back, taking a one goal lead with 17:32 left to play.  A goal by Quinn Simmons (Medina, Ohio/Medina) off an assist by Maggie Jaus (Synder, N.Y./Amherst Central) tied the game at 16:14 and one minute later a free position goal by Sara Langsam (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Friends) put DU up 9-8. 

At the 5:01 mark senior Meg Wilcox (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) scored her team-high fourth goal of the game off a feed from Kelly Vogt (Gates Mills, Ohio/Hawken) to put the Big Red up 10-8.  

Following Wilcox in the scoring leaders was Langsam with three goals.  Lindsay Howard (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) added a goal as well.  The Big Red will take on Whittier on Tuesday at 7 p.m. PST.
