Date: April 24, 2008
Location: GRANVILLE
Senior midfielder Quinn Simmons (Medina, Ohio/Medina) was named the North Coast Athletic Conference women's lacrosse athlete of the week on Monday after leading Denison to a pair of wins over The College of Wooster and Sewanee.
Simmons scored three goals and one assist in each contest, totaling six goals and two assists for the week. Her goal as time expired in the first overtime versus the Fighting Scots sent the game into a second overtime where DU would prevail 10-9. Their win over previous conference unbeaten, Wooster, combined with their win on Wednesday over Wittenberg has put Denison in position for an outright conference title. All it will take is a win over Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday in Delaware.
Simmons is the team leader in goals scored with 35 and in 56 career games she has netted 146 goals.
Denison has won 15 North Coast Athletic Conference championships with their most recent coming in 2006.
