Women's Lacrosse: Denison tops Wittenberg in home finale

Lindsay Howard scored four goals and added an assist in Denison's win over Wittenberg.
The Big Red exploded with nine goals in the second half and went on a 7-0 run covering 16 minutes in the final period to run away with a 15-7 victory over Wittenberg University on Wednesday night in Granville.
The win improves Denison's record to 4-1 and following Ohio Wesleyan's victory over The College of Wooster earlier tonight, the Big Red has the opportunity to capture the outright North Coast Athletic Conference championship when they travel to Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday.
The Big Red led 6-3 at halftime thanks to two first half goals by Quinn Simmons (Medina, Ohio/Medina) and Lindsay Howard (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest). Both Howard and Simmons would return with two more scores each in the second half to lead the DU scoring charge.
Howard ended the night with four goals and one assist. Simmons scored four goals and Jenny Strathern (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) added three scores.
Junior goalie Amanda Wilson (Hudson, Ohio/Western Reserve) stopped nine shots in goal for the Big Red. She also led the team with four ground balls. Wittenberg goalie Bonnie Kenny finished with 10 saves for the Tigers.
Denison is now 6-7 overall and 4-1 int he NCAC. They bring a four-game winning streak into Saturday's clash with the Bishops.
