Women's Lacrosse: The Big Red hands Wooster their first conference loss
Sara Langsam's goal in double-overtime sent Denison past first-place Wooster on Saturday.

Denison senior Quinn Simmons (Medina, Ohio/Medina) beat the buzzer in the first overtime and sophomore Sara Langsam (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Friends) scored with 1:47 remaining in the second OT, lifting Denison to a 10-9 victory over first-place Wooster on Saturday afternoon.
Wooster entered the match with a 4-0 record in the North Coast Athletic Conference and following the loss to the Big Red, Denison and the Scots both have one loss in conference play.
DU held a 6-3 halftime lead but the Scots tied the game at 8-8 with 3:31 to play after a Carly Carey free-position goal. In the first overtime, Wooster's Taryn Higgins gave the Scots the lead with 1:54 to play which led to Simmons' game-saving goal off a feed from Phoebe Myhrum (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady side Academy).
Simmons led Denison with three goals and one assist while Meg Wilcox (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) and Kelly Vogt (Gates Mills, Ohio/Hawken School) both scored two goals each.
Junior goalie Amanda Wilson (Hudson, Ohio/Western Reserve) posted eight saves while facing 18 shots. The Big Red outshot Wooster by 10 and finished with 19 ground balls while committing 13 turnovers.
Denison will host Sewanee on Sunday at 12 p.m. at Deeds Field-Piper Stadium in Granville before returning to North Coast Athletic Conference play on Wednesday (April 23) against Wittenberg at 7 p.m.
